Srinagar, 17th June: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said the pension reforms introduced during the last 12 years under the Narendra Modi government are benefiting a wider section of employees and pensioners in Jammu and Kashmir following its transition into a Union Territory.

Addressing the 59th Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshop and 13th Bankers’ Awareness Programme organised by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Srinagar, the Minister said the government has transformed pension administration with a focus on dignity, convenience and ease of living for pensioners.

He said Jammu and Kashmir Central Pensioners’ Associations have played a constructive role in ensuring a smooth transition of employees into the Central Government framework and supporting the implementation of pension reforms.

During the programme, DoPPW and J&K Bank signed an MoU to expand pension-related services and improve accessibility for pensioners across the Union Territory.

Highlighting digital reforms, Dr Singh said the Bhavishya platform has enabled end-to-end digitisation of pension processing, while Digital Life Certificates through Face Authentication Technology have allowed pensioners to complete essential procedures from their homes.

The Minister said the nationwide Digital Life Certificate campaign in November 2025 generated over 1.91 crore certificates, including more than 1.16 crore through Face Authentication Technology.

He called upon retiring employees and senior citizens to continue contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through their experience and knowledge.
