VP Flags Off ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Rally on Vande Mataram 150 Years

New Delhi 12th August : Vice President CP Radhakrishnan today flagged off the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ bike rally from Bharat Mandapam to Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, marking the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. The event saw participation from MPs, ministers, and other public representatives, emphasizing the messages of national pride, unity, and citizen engagement.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice President said ‘Vande Mataram’ transformed love for the motherland into a national duty, becoming a powerful expression of India’s freedom movement. He recalled how the immortal words of the song inspired countless freedom fighters with courage, sacrifice, and hope.
Reflecting on his recent visit to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island and Cellular Jail in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, he remembered the sacrifices of freedom fighters who chanted Vande Mataram, including those who were martyred. He highlighted the contributions of Tamil Nadu’s leaders and poets, like Subramania Bharati and VO Chidambaram Pillai, in spreading the spirit of Vande Mataram.
The Vice President noted that the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022, has turned into a true mass movement, with citizens actively participating in flag rallies, cultural events, and other activities. He called on MPs to promote the campaign in their constituencies and inspire people to proudly hoist the tricolor.
The rally included Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Virendra Kumar, G. Kishan Reddy, Kiren Rijiju, Jitendra Singh, and several MPs and public representatives, showcasing collective commitment to the spirit of ‘Vande Mataram’ and national unity.
