New Delhi, 24th May: Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic mishap in Karwar district of Karnataka and announced financial assistance for the affected families.

In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister conveyed condolences to those who lost their loved ones and wished speedy recovery to the injured.

“Deeply pained to hear about a mishap in Karwar district, Karnataka. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister also announced an ex-gratia assistance of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased person.

Those injured in the incident will receive ₹50,000 each as financial support.

According to reports, the mishap occurred in Uttara Kannada district’s Karwar region, where multiple people were feared dead following an accident linked to river activity near Bhatkal. Rescue operations and search efforts are currently underway.

Local authorities and emergency teams have been deployed to assist victims and continue relief measures in the affected area.
