Jind, 17th July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation development projects worth around ₹14,700 crore in Haryana, including the launch of India’s first hydrogen-powered train.
Addressing a public gathering in Jind, the Prime Minister said the state had created history with the country’s first hydrogen train, describing it as a major milestone in the modernisation of Indian Railways and green mobility. He said the train, developed under the Make in India initiative, is completely emission-free and is the world’s most powerful hydrogen train with ten coaches and 3,200 horsepower.
Modi said hydrogen technology represents the future of rail transport and noted that India has demonstrated its capability by operating a ten-coach hydrogen train, unlike similar trains in other countries that typically run with fewer coaches.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated key infrastructure projects, including new national highways, sections of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway and healthcare institutions in Bhiwani and Narnaul. He said the projects would strengthen connectivity, healthcare services and regional development.
Highlighting the government’s focus on sports, Modi said the new National Sports Policy and Khelo Bharat initiative are providing athletes with better facilities. He urged young sportspersons to prepare for future global events, including India’s bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games.
The Prime Minister also appreciated Haryana residents for their “Swachhta Se Swagat” initiative and called for making cleanliness a part of daily life. Concluding his address, he expressed confidence that the new projects would accelerate Haryana’s growth and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat.
