New Delhi, 8th Oct: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met Akie Abe, wife of late former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, in New Delhi and expressed his appreciation for her enduring association with India.
During the meeting, Modi recalled Shinzo Abe as a dear friend and visionary leader who played a defining role in taking India-Japan relations to new heights.
The Prime Minister also referred to the inauguration of the Abe Memorial Corridor at the Rudraksh Convention Centre in Varanasi, describing it as a fitting tribute to Abe’s lasting contribution to the friendship between India and Japan.
The corridor was inaugurated in Varanasi on October 7, commemorating Abe’s enduring connection with India and his contribution to strengthening bilateral relations.
In a post on X, Modi said he deeply valued Akie Abe’s continued association with India and remembered Shinzo Abe as a close friend and visionary leader.
The Prime Minister highlighted Abe’s role in deepening the strategic and people-to-people relationship between the two countries, which has expanded significantly over the years.
The meeting came a day after Akie Abe attended the inauguration of the memorial corridor in Varanasi, where leaders recalled the personal friendship between Modi and Shinzo Abe and the former Japanese Prime Minister’s special association with Kashi.
The memorial corridor at Rudraksh Convention Centre is intended to preserve Abe’s memory in Varanasi while symbolising the enduring India-Japan relationship.
