New Delhi, 13th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on Sunday.
The two leaders reviewed progress in various areas of cooperation and exchanged views on the multi-faceted strategic partnership between India and South Africa.
They reaffirmed that the longstanding relationship between the two countries is rooted in shared historical struggles, cultural affinities, strong economic ties and deep people-to-people connections.
Modi and Ramaphosa also discussed global issues of mutual interest and agreed to maintain close coordination in multilateral forums.
In the context of the successful translocation of cheetahs from South Africa to India, Modi invited South Africa to consider joining the International Big Cat Alliance.
President Ramaphosa thanked Prime Minister Modi for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation and congratulated India on the successful organisation of the BRICS Summit.
