Lucknow, 15th Jan. Renowned poet Munawwar Rana passed away at the age of 71 at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences on Sunday in Lucknow.
He had been battling throat cancer for a long time.
Rana’s daughter, Sumaiya Rana, confirmed that her father passed away late on Sunday night and will be laid to rest on Monday.
He is survived by his wife, four daughters, and a son.
Rana’s son, Tabrez Rana, stated that his father had been hospitalized for 14 to 15 days and was first admitted to Medanta in Lucknow before being shifted to SGPGI, where he passed away around 11 pm.
