Erode, 29th Aug: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Saturday said research, innovation and strong industry-academia collaboration are essential for India’s continued progress.
Addressing the Founders’ Day celebrations and inauguration of ‘Arivukoodam’ at the Kongu Vellalar Institute of Technology (KVIT) Trust in Perundurai, Erode, the Vice President called upon educational institutions to move beyond basic education and develop into global centres of knowledge, research and innovation.
Radhakrishnan appreciated the vision of the 41 founders of the KVIT Trust and noted that nearly one lakh people have received education through its institutions. He also commended the Trust for developing global linkages with countries including Germany, the United States, France and Japan.
The Vice President urged young people to continuously upgrade their knowledge and move towards research-oriented education. He encouraged students to pursue research, innovation and patents while preparing for emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductors, quantum technology, biotechnology and digital technology.
Emphasising that change is constant, he advised youth to recognise their strengths, set clear goals and persevere without comparing themselves with others. He also highlighted yoga and meditation as means to promote mental peace and sharper intellect.
Radhakrishnan expressed confidence that Arivukoodam would develop into a hub for research, innovation and knowledge creation and help strengthen the institution as a global knowledge centre.
The Vice President visited an exhibition organised by the Technology Business Incubator of Kongu Engineering College, showcasing innovative projects and technological solutions.
MoUs were exchanged in his presence between Anchor Industries and Arivukoodam – A Research Park, aimed at strengthening industry-academia collaboration and promoting research and innovation.
Radhakrishnan also unveiled plaques commemorating the foundation stone laying of Arivukoodam – A Research Park, Pharmacy College, Kongu Naturopathy and Yoga Medical College and the Cloud Kitchen of KVITT.
He also felicitated distinguished individuals associated with the college and the Trust.
Tamil Nadu and Keralam Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Supreme Court Judge Justice M. M. Sundresh and KVIT Trust Chairman Devarajan, among others, attended the programme.
