Mumbai, 21st Oct: An investigation into the firing incident targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai has revealed that Salman Khan was allegedly the original target, according to sources. The shooters reportedly conducted reconnaissance outside Khan’s Galaxy Apartments residence but abandoned the plan after encountering heavy security.

The firing took place around 7 pm on Sunday near Pushpa Narsee Ground in Juhu, where Shroff had reportedly gone to play football. Two men allegedly opened fire, while a third accomplice waited nearby on a motorcycle. Seven rounds were fired before the suspects fled.

The accused allegedly abandoned their motorcycle near Andheri West railway station before boarding a train to Jaipur. Three men — Hritik alias Roshan, 22, from Begusarai in Bihar; Rehan, 18, from Sonipat in Haryana; and Phool Singh, 18, also from Haryana — were arrested within 24 hours of the incident.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly told investigators that they had initially planned to target another high-profile individual, identified by sources as Salman Khan. After allegedly finding his residence heavily guarded, they were instructed to target celebrities with comparatively less security.

According to sources, the suspects had arrived in Mumbai around 20 days before the attack and posed as tourists while surveying locations associated with several Bollywood personalities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan.

Investigators suspect that the accused monitored Shroff’s Instagram account and those of his fans to track his movements. A local auto-rickshaw driver allegedly provided information about the actor’s regular visits to the Juhu football ground.

The suspects reportedly visited the ground on October 11, but Shroff was absent that day. A police source suggested the visit may have been part of their reconnaissance, as the accused allegedly obtained the weapons on October 17.

Both foreign-made and locally manufactured pistols were reportedly used in the firing. The suspects allegedly discarded the weapons while fleeing Mumbai, and the police are attempting to recover them.

Following the incident, security around Salman Khan has reportedly been strengthened, with special commandos deployed alongside Mumbai Police personnel.

The case has also drawn attention after an audio clip circulated on social media in which a man identifying himself as Anil Pandit claimed responsibility for the attack alongside another individual, Harman Sandhu, and described himself as a younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

In the purported recording, the speaker issued threats against people in the film industry who work with Salman Khan or do not align with the group. The authenticity of the audio and the claims made in it would need to be established through investigation.

The Mumbai Police investigation is continuing, with the alleged target selection, the suspects’ movements and the recovery of the weapons among the key aspects under examination.
