New Delhi, 30th June: Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan will undertake a two-day visit to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on June 30 and July 1 to review the flood situation and assess relief and rehabilitation efforts, following directions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Centre said the visit reflects the government’s continued monitoring of the flood situation in the Northeast and its commitment to expediting relief and rehabilitation through on-ground assessment and prompt intervention.

As part of the visit, Chouhan will chair a high-level review meeting in Guwahati on June 30 with senior Assam government officials to assess the impact of floods on crops, villages and critical infrastructure. The meeting will also review the progress of relief operations and discuss additional assistance required for affected regions.

On July 1, the Union Minister will visit the flood-hit areas of Arunachal Pradesh, where he will conduct aerial and ground surveys to assess damage to villages, agricultural fields and relief camps.

During the visit, Chouhan will interact with affected farmers, local residents, women’s groups and youth to review the effectiveness of ongoing relief measures and identify immediate support required for rehabilitation.

Later, the Minister will hold discussions with Arunachal Pradesh Ministers, senior officials and public representatives on crop loss assessment, compensation and crop insurance payments, restoration of damaged roads, bridges and embankments, and rebuilding rural infrastructure.

The Centre said the field visit is part of its coordinated efforts to ensure timely assistance and strengthen disaster response in the flood-affected states of the Northeast.
