Two New Members Join DWBDNC Governing Body
Narayan Dewasi and Swaroop Singh Banjara take oath to support welfare and empowerment of DNT communities

New Delhi, 7th Oct: Two newly appointed members of the Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC), Narayan Dewasi and Swaroop Singh Banjara, took oath as members of the Board on Wednesday.
The oath of office was administered by Sudhansh Pant, Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Chairman of DWBDNC, at the Ministry’s office in New Delhi.
The newly appointed members pledged allegiance to the Constitution of India and to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of the country. They also undertook to discharge their responsibilities faithfully and conscientiously and work for the interests of people belonging to De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic (DNT) communities without fear or favour.
Dewasi and Banjara were appointed members of the Governing Body by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment for a three-year tenure from the date of joining or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Swaroop Singh Banjara assumed charge on September 17, while Narayan Dewasi assumed charge on September 25, 2026.
Pant expressed confidence that the appointments would strengthen the Governing Body and help it advance its mandate for the welfare, socio-economic development and empowerment of De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic communities.
The DWBDNC works to address the welfare and development concerns of De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic communities and supports initiatives aimed at improving their socio-economic conditions and empowerment.
The addition of the two members is expected to further strengthen the Board’s efforts to implement initiatives focused on the welfare and development of these communities.
