New Delhi, 18th April: The seventh session of the 18th Lok Sabha concluded on Friday with an overall productivity of around 93 per cent, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla informed the House.
The session, which began on January 28, witnessed 31 sittings and lasted for approximately 151 hours and 42 minutes.
The Union Budget 2026–27, presented by the Finance Minister on February 1, was discussed for nearly 13 hours, with 63 members participating in the debate.
Discussions on the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026, the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the Delimitation Bill, 2026 lasted over 21 hours, with participation from 131 members. However, the Constitution Amendment Bill was not passed.
During the session, 12 government bills were introduced, while 9 were passed. Key legislations included amendments to industrial relations, insolvency laws, transgender rights, and the Finance Bill.
A total of 326 matters of public importance were raised during Zero Hour, while 650 matters were taken up under Rule 377.
Additionally, 126 starred questions were answered orally, 73 committee reports were presented, and 2,089 papers were laid on the table of the House.
The House also held a short-duration discussion on efforts to eliminate Left-Wing Extremism, lasting over six hours.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the House on March 23 regarding the West Asia conflict and its implications for India.
The Speaker noted that 181 statements were delivered in 18 Indian languages, with simultaneous interpretation carried out successfully, reflecting the diversity of parliamentary discourse.
