Kolkata, 4th May: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday strongly criticised the election results that saw the Bharatiya Janata Party surge ahead, alleging large-scale irregularities and calling the outcome “loot”.

Addressing reporters after trends and results indicated a decisive win for the Bharatiya Janata Party, Banerjee accused the Election Commission of India of acting in favour of the ruling party at the Centre.

She claimed that more than 100 seats had been “manipulated” and termed the outcome an “immoral victory”.

Banerjee further alleged that central forces and top leadership were involved in influencing the process, asserting that her party had raised complaints but no action was taken.

Despite the setback, the Trinamool Congress chief expressed confidence that her party would recover politically.

The BJP’s performance marks a historic breakthrough in West Bengal, a state where it had struggled to gain power for decades.

The results signal a major shift in the state’s political landscape, ending a prolonged period of Trinamool dominance.
