Bengaluru, 29th May: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Friday praised the Art of Living Foundation for spreading peace, harmony and human values across the world, saying India’s spiritual heritage and contemporary leadership are inspiring people globally.
Addressing the global celebrations marking 45 years of the Art of Living Foundation in Bengaluru, the Vice President said the movement has transformed millions of lives across continents and today operates in nearly 180 countries.
He noted that the organisation, founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, has evolved into a major humanitarian and spiritual force built on the belief that inner peace is the foundation of outer harmony.
Reflecting on the meaning of devotion, Radhakrishnan said true bhakti extends beyond worship and represents dedication towards family, society, the nation and humanity.
“True Bhakti means dedication to humanity,” he said, adding that spirituality helps people live peacefully and lead meaningful lives.
The Vice President praised Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for promoting values of wisdom, peace and compassion in a world increasingly affected by conflict and uncertainty.
Highlighting the organisation’s work in meditation, education, rural development, environmental protection and interfaith dialogue, he said the Art of Living has demonstrated how spirituality can contribute to social transformation and community development.
He also applauded initiatives such as Rock Satsang and Bhajan Clubbing for presenting India’s ancient wisdom traditions in contemporary formats that appeal to younger generations worldwide.
Radhakrishnan described the organisation’s volunteers as the “silent architects of service”, saying their efforts have helped expand the movement’s mission across communities and countries.
The Vice President also commended the foundation’s campaign for a drug-free India and urged youth to embrace discipline, self-control and positive values.
Referring to India’s growing global influence, he said the country is increasingly playing a leadership role through its emphasis on wellness, sustainability and civilisational values. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on yoga, wellness, sustainability and the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” closely aligns with the ideals promoted by the Art of Living Foundation.
During the visit, the Vice President offered prayers at the Ganpati Temple within the Art of Living campus and launched a commemorative postal stamp marking the organisation’s 45th anniversary.
The event was attended by Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, international dignitaries, devotees and thousands of volunteers.
