Rohtak, 10th June: Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday said the last 12 years of the Narendra Modi government have been defined by trust, development and public welfare, transforming both the direction and character of India.

Addressing the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Conference in Rohtak on the completion of 12 years of the Modi government, Scindia described the period as a transformative journey that combined political stability with unprecedented change.

“India has witnessed an extraordinary blend of stability and transformation over the last 12 years. Today, the country is among the world’s fastest-growing economies and is firmly moving towards the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he said.

Trust Through Decisive Leadership
Scindia said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had provided the country with stable, visionary and decisive leadership. He cited measures such as the Uri surgical strikes, the Balakot air strike and Operation Sindoor as examples of India’s strong response to terrorism.

He also highlighted the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), describing it as the realization of the “One Nation, One Tax” vision.

The Union Minister said India’s global stature had risen significantly through initiatives such as Vaccine Maitri, which delivered vaccines to nearly 100 countries, and the successful hosting of the G20 Summit.

Referring to cultural and heritage projects, Scindia said the government had embraced the philosophy of “development along with heritage,” pointing to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Mahakal Lok and the redevelopment of Kedarnath.

Infrastructure and Digital Transformation
Scindia said the past decade had laid the foundation for a New India driven by infrastructure growth, economic expansion and digital empowerment.

He noted that capital expenditure on infrastructure had increased from around ₹2 lakh crore to ₹12.2 lakh crore. Nearly four lakh kilometres of rural roads were constructed, while the national highway network expanded from 91,287 km to more than 1.46 lakh km.

Road construction speed increased from 11.6 km per day to 34 km per day, he said, adding that projects such as the Chenab Bridge, Atal Tunnel and the new Pamban Bridge reflected India’s engineering capabilities.

In the railway sector, Scindia said 99.6 per cent of the broad-gauge network had been electrified, while over 1,337 stations were being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He added that 164 Vande Bharat trains are currently operational across the country.

Highlighting digital achievements, the Minister said BharatNet had connected 2.14 lakh gram panchayats through a 7.29 lakh km optical fibre network. Internet users increased from 25 crore to 103 crore, while broadband subscribers rose from 6 crore to 101 crore.

India has also emerged as the world’s second-largest mobile phone manufacturer, with mobile exports recording a 163-fold increase and manufacturing units rising from two to 300, he said.

Scindia added that UPI-based digital transactions had grown 12 times, with annual digital payments now exceeding ₹314 lakh crore.

Welfare Reaching the Last Mile
The Union Minister said the Modi government’s welfare model was built on ensuring that the benefits of development reach the poorest citizens.

“Today, the government is reaching the doorstep of the poor rather than making the poor reach government offices,” he said.

Scindia stated that nearly 25 crore people had been lifted out of poverty over the last decade. He highlighted that 81 crore people were receiving free food grains under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.

Under the Jan Dhan Yojana, 58 crore bank accounts have been opened, including 32 crore in the names of women, he said.

He further noted that four crore families have received houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 11 crore LPG connections have been provided under Ujjwala Yojana, and tap water connections have reached 16 crore households.

According to Scindia, more than ₹4.3 lakh crore has been transferred directly to the accounts of 11 crore farmers under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

Road to Viksit Bharat 2047
Concluding his address, Scindia said India now possesses a strong foundation, a clear direction and an unwavering commitment to development.

He expressed confidence that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the pillars of trust, development and public welfare would help India emerge as a developed nation by 2047 and establish a new identity on the global stage.
