Hyderabad, 15th June: Political tensions intensified in Telangana as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to dissolve the State Assembly and seek a fresh mandate from the people.

Leading the attack, Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao said all eight BJP Members of Parliament from Telangana were prepared to resign if the Chief Minister dissolved the Assembly and called for fresh elections.

“If Revanth Reddy has confidence in his leadership, he should resign as Chief Minister, dissolve the Assembly and face the people. All eight BJP MPs are ready to resign and contest again,” Rao said.

The challenge comes amid a growing confrontation between the ruling Congress government and the BJP over issues including paddy procurement, allocation of Central funds and implementation of development projects.

Raghunandan Rao accused the state government of failing to address farmers’ concerns and alleged that delays in paddy procurement were causing hardships for cultivators across the state.

He claimed that paddy stocks were lying unsold at procurement centres, payments were being delayed and several promises made by the Congress government remained unfulfilled.

“You are asking BJP MPs to resign. What have you done for farmers? Paddy procurement is incomplete and farmers are suffering,” he said.

The BJP leader also warned the Congress against targeting Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy over procurement-related issues.

“If Congress leaders can protest in front of Kishan Reddy’s residence, BJP workers can also protest in Kodangal or before the state government. We are respecting the Chief Minister’s office, but our restraint should not be mistaken for weakness,” Rao said.

Adding to the political offensive, Nizamabad MP D. Arvind praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accused the Congress of losing public trust.

Arvind claimed that the BJP’s political footprint was expanding steadily across the country and predicted a major political shift in Telangana in the coming years.

“The BJP is working towards a Congress-free India. People are looking for an alternative, and Telangana will also see political change in the coming years,” he said.

The latest exchange has further sharpened the political divide between the Congress and BJP, with both parties gearing up for the Hyderabad civic polls expected later this year.

The Congress government has not yet officially responded to the BJP leaders’ challenge for fresh elections.
