HM Amit Shah Approves ₹2,117.85 Cr Flood Relief for States
Centre clears advance SDRF funds for flood-hit states as monsoon situation remains under close monitoring

New Delhi, 1st Aug: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has approved the advance release of ₹2,117.85 crore from the Central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to support states affected by floods during the ongoing southwest monsoon.
The Centre said the assistance is aimed at ensuring timely availability of resources for relief, rescue and rehabilitation operations in flood-hit areas.
Since the onset of the monsoon, the Central Government has been monitoring the flood situation in coordination with state governments. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been pre-deployed where required, while logistical assistance has also been extended by the Ministry of Defence.
Arunachal Pradesh has been sanctioned ₹44.55 crore as advance release of the first instalment of the Central share of SDRF for 2026-27, while Assam will receive ₹379.35 crore.
Gujarat and Maharashtra have each been sanctioned ₹500 crore as advance release of their first instalments.
Himachal Pradesh, which has already received its first SDRF instalment for the financial year, has been sanctioned ₹193.95 crore as advance release of the second instalment.
Odisha has similarly been sanctioned ₹500 crore as an advance second instalment after having already received its first tranche.
Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Nagaland are among the seven affected states that have already received their first SDRF instalments for 2026-27.
The advance releases for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat and Maharashtra have been approved by relaxing documentary requirements under the applicable guidelines in view of the urgent need for relief resources.
Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) have already been sent to Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to assess the extent of damage caused by the floods.
Two IMCT visits have been undertaken in Assam considering the severity of the situation, while another team is being constituted for Nagaland following a request from the state government.
The Centre said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, it remains committed to providing all necessary assistance to states for effective relief, rescue and rehabilitation measures and will continue to closely monitor the flood situation.
