Scindia Inaugurates Renovated Guna Head Post Office
₹38 lakh modernisation brings upgraded facilities, token system and digital services to citizens

Guna, 17th Sept: Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurated the renovated Guna Head Post Office on Wednesday, marking a step towards modernising postal infrastructure and improving citizen-centric services.
The renovation and improvement of the post office have been completed at a cost of approximately ₹38 lakh, following design guidelines of the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi). The work forms part of the Department of Posts’ broader initiative to modernise post offices across the country.
The upgraded facility offers a more modern and accessible environment for citizens using postal and financial services. The Guna Head Post Office serves a large population in the district and is expected to continue providing postal and financial services with improved facilities.
During the inauguration, Scindia appreciated the Department of Posts’ efforts to modernise its network and improve service delivery. He highlighted the newly introduced token system, which is intended to allow customers to access services in an orderly manner and reduce waiting in crowded queues.
A digital display screen has also been installed to provide information about service timelines. The Minister noted that a duplicate passbook, for instance, can now be issued within one day.
Scindia also highlighted the digital transformation of postal services, noting that citizens can access several services without repeatedly visiting a post office. Services available through the Dak Sewa and Dak Mitra apps are aimed at making postal services more accessible and convenient.
The renovated facility is part of the Department of Posts’ wider efforts to modernise postal infrastructure, expand digital services, improve service delivery and strengthen workforce capabilities.
The upgraded Guna Head Post Office is expected to enhance the delivery of postal and financial services to residents of Guna and surrounding areas.
