PM Modi Honours JP Narayan, Recalls His Emergency-Era Legacy

New Delhi, 11th Oct: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tribute to Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan on his birth anniversary, highlighting his contribution to public life, good governance and the empowerment of marginalised communities.
In a message shared on X, PM Modi said Narayan’s appeal transcended generations and inspired people to view public life as an instrument of national renewal. He also recalled the leader’s fearless voice during the Emergency.
The Prime Minister underlined Narayan’s commitment to ensuring good governance and reaching people on the margins of society. He said the nation remained committed to fulfilling the veteran leader’s ideals while working towards the goal of a Viksit Bharat.
Narayan, popularly known as Loknayak JP, remains associated with the movement for political accountability and democratic rights during the Emergency period of 1975–77. His emphasis on public participation and social transformation continues to shape his legacy in Indian public life.
