Mumbai, 22nd Oct: The family of Babita, a 23-year-old woman arrested in connection with the shooting incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, has claimed that she was misled by another accused, Radha, who allegedly took her to Mumbai under the pretext of visiting temples.

Babita’s family said she was unaware of the alleged shooting plan and that Radha had not disclosed the real purpose of the trip. Her father, Ramjanam Ram, said he had full faith in the justice system but maintained that his daughter should be punished if found guilty.

Babita, a resident of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, reportedly worked as a packer in Sonipat, Haryana, before her arrest. Police are examining her background, previous contacts and possible links between individuals connected to the case.

The shooting took place on Sunday evening in Mumbai’s Juhu area, when Tiger Shroff arrived to play football. According to the account of the incident, two men opened fire at his BMW, reportedly firing six to seven rounds. One attacker allegedly pointed a gun directly at the actor, but the weapon jammed. Shroff escaped unharmed, while his driver and a bystander sustained injuries.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang subsequently claimed responsibility for the attack, reportedly citing Shroff’s proximity to actor Salman Khan, who has previously been threatened by the gang.

Three alleged shooters—Hrithik alias Roshan, 22, from Bihar, and Rehan, 18, and Phool Singh, 18, from Haryana—were arrested in Kota, Rajasthan. Radha and Babita were later arrested at New Delhi Railway Station. Two additional accused, Kunal, 21, and Sumit, 19, were arrested in Sonipat, Haryana.

How the alleged shooting plan unfolded
According to information attributed to investigators, Kunal allegedly met Anil Pandit, a suspected Lawrence Bishnoi gang member accused of arranging the attack through an associate. Kunal allegedly procured a pistol and 20 cartridges from Amritsar before persuading Radha to transport the weapon to Mumbai.

On October 15, Kunal reportedly accompanied Radha and Babita to New Delhi Railway Station for their journey to Mumbai. The group allegedly remained in contact through an encrypted messaging application, with instructions relayed through the network.

The two women reportedly arrived at Dadar Railway Station on October 17 and checked into a hotel. Another accused allegedly collected a bag containing weapons from Radha. The following day, the three alleged shooters carried out the attack, while Radha and Babita boarded the Haridwar Express to leave Mumbai for Delhi.

Police are continuing to investigate the alleged roles of the accused and the connections between those suspected of arranging the attack and transporting the weapons. Authorities in Azamgarh are also coordinating with the Delhi and Mumbai police as investigators examine the claims made by Babita’s family.

The family’s assertion that Babita was unaware of the alleged plan remains a claim and does not determine her legal responsibility. The investigation is ongoing.
