Lucknow, 22nd Oct: Influencer and make-up artist Shraddha Dubey, arrested in connection with the alleged murder of her businessman boyfriend Shiva Sharma, may have links to Mumbai’s ‘Z’ gang, according to police sources.
Dubey, her sister Rashmi Dubey and their driver Danish were arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) in Nagpur on Tuesday after allegedly changing locations several times while attempting to evade the police.
Sharma, who owned a chain of restaurants, died after falling from the fourth-floor flat of Dubey in Lucknow on October 9. His family accused Dubey of killing him, while she has denied the allegations and claimed that he died by suicide.
Police Trace Suspects Across Multiple Locations
According to police sources, the three allegedly travelled from Lucknow to Nepal before returning to Uttar Pradesh. They reportedly moved through Rae Bareli, Jhansi and Agra before reaching Nagpur, where they were arrested.
Investigators claim that members of Mumbai’s ‘Z’ gang had offered to shelter Dubey in Nagpur and invited her to stay at a farmhouse. Police reportedly tracked the group before they could move into the property.
The gang, also known as the Zulfikar Behlim gang, is alleged to operate an organised crime and extortion network in Mumbai’s western suburbs. Police sources have claimed that the group may also have links to drug smuggling and the supply of drugs for rave and Page 3 parties.
In July, 12 people were arrested in connection with an alleged extortion case involving a builder who was reportedly asked to pay ₹25 lakh. The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) was invoked in the case in August.
Investigators are also examining the alleged communication between Dubey and gang members through FaceTime. Police have recovered three iPhones from her, and further investigation is underway.
Dubey Denies Murder Allegations
Dubey has described the murder allegations as “baseless”. In videos released before her arrest, she claimed that Sharma had died by suicide and was struggling with a debt of ₹20 lakh.
She alleged that Sharma had spoken about ending his life if he could not repay the money. Dubey also said their relationship was relatively recent and rejected the accusations made by Sharma’s family.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Sharma’s death and the alleged links between Dubey and the gang. The claims regarding the gang’s involvement and Dubey’s alleged connections remain under investigation.
