New Delhi, 16th April: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Wednesday called for embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a transformative force for good governance, stating that it is “not just a technological revolution, but a human revolution.”

He was delivering the 5th Dr. Rajendra Prasad Memorial Lecture on “AI for Good Governance” during the 72nd Founders’ Day celebrations of the Indian Institute of Public Administration.

The Vice President said the world is witnessing a new era where AI is enabling governments to serve citizens more effectively by enhancing responsiveness, transparency, and efficiency.

He noted that AI is helping bridge the gap between policy and people through data-driven decision-making and improved public service delivery.

Highlighting India’s progress, he said AI is a key enabler in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, ensuring inclusive development and targeted welfare delivery under the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”

He also pointed out that AI-powered platforms are overcoming language barriers, citing initiatives like BHASHINI, which promote linguistic inclusivity.

The Vice President highlighted AI’s growing role in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, MSMEs, judiciary, and administration. He noted innovations like AI-assisted disease screening and telemedicine platforms that are improving access to healthcare services.

Emphasising responsible use, he cautioned that technological advancements must be guided by ethics, fairness, and accountability.

He urged stakeholders, especially youth, to embrace AI while ensuring it is used for the greater good and societal welfare.

Paying tribute to Rajendra Prasad, he highlighted his legacy of integrity, simplicity, and commitment to public service, describing him as a guiding force for governance rooted in moral values.
