INS Trishul Makes Port Call at Alexandria
Indian Navy frigate conducts PASSEX with Egyptian Navy, strengthening maritime cooperation

New Delhi, 20th Sept: Indian Navy guided missile frigate INS Trishul made a port call at Alexandria, Egypt, from September 14 to 17 as part of its deployment, reinforcing maritime cooperation between India and Egypt.
The warship received a warm welcome on arrival, with Egyptian Naval Ship Al Qadeer escorting INS Trishul into Alexandria Harbour.
The Commanding Officer and crew of INS Trishul paid homage to Indian soldiers at the Chatby War Memorial, which contains 12 burials and commemorates 19 Indian soldiers who died aboard ships sunk in the Eastern Mediterranean during the two World Wars.
Indian Ambassador to Egypt Suresh K Reddy visited INS Trishul and interacted with the crew. During the interaction, he highlighted the importance of the Indian Navy’s presence in the region.
During the port call, INS Trishul also conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with Egyptian Navy ship ENS Bernees. The exercise included coordinated manoeuvring, communication drills and approaches for replenishment at sea.
The exercise provided personnel from both navies an opportunity to exchange professional expertise and enhance operational interoperability.
The Indian Navy said the port call and PASSEX reaffirm the longstanding relationship between the Indian and Egyptian navies and contribute to strengthening maritime cooperation between the two countries.
