New Delhi, 20th April: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid homage to Basaveshwara on the occasion of Basava Jayanthi, remembering his enduring teachings and vision of a just society.

In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said Basaveshwara’s ideals of equality and empowerment continue to inspire generations.

Modi noted that Basaveshwara worked tirelessly for social reform and upliftment, advocating a society based on justice, equality and dignity for all.

“His vision of a just society, along with his unwavering efforts to empower the people, will always motivate us,” the Prime Minister said.

Basaveshwara, a revered philosopher and spiritual leader, is widely known for promoting social harmony, opposing caste discrimination and encouraging community-based welfare.

His teachings remain influential, particularly among the Lingayat community, and continue to shape discourse on social justice and ethical living.

Basava Jayanthi is celebrated across several states with cultural events, prayers and processions, marking the birth anniversary of the 12th-century reformer.
