New Delhi, 9th July: Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on Thursday invited investors to explore Tripura’s growing investment opportunities, describing the state as one of the Northeast’s most promising business destinations under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Vision.

Addressing the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 virtually, Scindia said the Northeast is emerging as a major engine of India’s growth and will play a defining role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat.

He said Prime Minister Modi’s Act East Policy has transformed the Northeast from India’s frontier into a gateway to Southeast Asia, creating new opportunities for trade, investment and regional connectivity.

Describing Tripura as a state positioned at the intersection of connectivity, commerce and opportunity, the Union Minister said Agartala is emerging as a strategic gateway to the ASEAN region, offering businesses access to a market of over 670 million people.

Scindia highlighted Tripura’s strengths, including abundant reserves of natural gas, bamboo, agarwood, rubber, tea, spices and horticultural produce, along with a skilled workforce, investor-friendly policies, expanding infrastructure and India’s third International Internet Gateway.

He noted that Tripura is India’s largest producer of bamboo and the second-largest producer of natural rubber, offering significant opportunities in manufacturing, food processing, value addition, logistics, exports and technology-driven industries.

The Union Minister said the Centre has transformed the Northeast’s development landscape over the past decade by strengthening connectivity and infrastructure. He cited projects such as the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway, the Kaladan Multimodal Transit Transport Project, the Sabroom Special Economic Zone, the Maitri Setu bridge and the Integrated Check Post as key initiatives enhancing Tripura’s connectivity with Southeast Asia.

Calling on investors to partner in Tripura’s growth story, Scindia said the state’s transformation from a landlocked region to a gateway to the Bay of Bengal reflects the broader transformation of the Northeast under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.

Reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to the region, he said the Ashtalakshmi States are poised to lead India’s next phase of economic growth.
