Prime Minister attends Art of Living’s 45th anniversary in Bengaluru, stresses spirituality and youth empowerment

Bengaluru, 10th May: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday participated in the 45th anniversary celebrations of The Art of Living in Bengaluru and highlighted the importance of spirituality, social responsibility and youth empowerment in nation building.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister described Bengaluru as a city that has not only earned global recognition for software and services but has also elevated India’s spiritual consciousness and cultural identity.

“The atmosphere of Bengaluru and the environment here are quite unique,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the newly constructed meditation temple at the Art of Living International Centre and congratulated the organisation on completing 45 years under the guidance of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who also turned 70 this year.

‘Service is the Natural Character of Society’
Recalling India’s spiritual traditions of yoga, meditation and pranayama, Modi said India’s ancient values continue to inspire people globally and have given rise to several humanitarian institutions.

Referring to the growth of Art of Living over four-and-a-half decades, he said the organisation had transformed from a small initiative into a global movement touching millions of lives.

The Prime Minister said India’s diversity remains united through the spirit of living for others and stressed that “Seva Paramo Dharma” — service is the supreme duty — reflects the natural character of Indian society.

He praised the volunteers and initiatives of Art of Living in areas such as tree plantation, rural development, women empowerment, tribal welfare and mental health support for prisoners.

Focus on Youth and Sustainable Living
Highlighting India’s rapid transformation in sectors like digital payments, startups and infrastructure, Modi said the country’s youth are leading change in several fields including space technology.

He said the vision of a developed India can only be realised through mentally calm, socially responsible and sensitive youth.

“A Viksit Bharat will be built through such youth,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister also called for wider public participation in natural farming, environmental protection and water conservation initiatives.

He urged people to support campaigns such as “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, “Per Drop More Crop” and Mission LiFE while promoting sustainable lifestyles, reduced plastic use and locally made products.

Modi said protecting nature and adopting responsible lifestyles are also part of the philosophy of the Art of Living.
