Nashik, 17th April: Nida Khan, one of the accused in the alleged harassment and forced religious conversion case at the Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services, is currently in Mumbai and is expecting her first child, according to her family.
Khan, who is absconding, has approached a Nashik court seeking anticipatory bail, reportedly citing her medical condition. Authorities are likely to verify her claims through official medical channels as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) intensifies efforts to trace her.
Multiple Complaints Under Probe
The police are investigating nine complaints involving allegations of sexual harassment and forced religious conversion at the company’s Nashik office. The incidents reportedly occurred between February 2022 and March 2026.
So far, seven employees—including six men and one woman HR head—have been arrested.
The accused have been identified as Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Asif Aftab Ansari, and HR head Ashwini Chainani.
Serious Allegations by Victims
According to police, complainants alleged mental and sexual harassment by senior colleagues, along with inaction by the human resources department.
In one case, an accused allegedly maintained a physical relationship with a woman on the false promise of marriage. Another complaint involved inappropriate touching and offensive remarks about personal life.
Police also said one male employee was allegedly forced to perform religious practices and faced insults related to his faith.
TCS said it maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion and has suspended the employees under investigation.
“TCS has always ensured the highest standards of safety and well-being of employees. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities,” the company said in a statement.
Top-Level Review Ordered
Tata Sons Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran described the allegations as “gravely concerning and anguishing,” announcing a thorough internal probe led by Chief Operating Officer Arathi Subramanian.
The SIT investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to establish the full extent of the alleged misconduct.
