Bratislava, 15th June: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid tribute to Slovakia’s fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Bratislava during his official visit to the country.

Prime Minister Modi was joined by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico at the solemn ceremony, where the two leaders paid homage to the brave soldiers who played a pivotal role in Slovakia’s liberation during World War II.

The wreath-laying ceremony formed part of Prime Minister Modi’s historic visit to Slovakia, the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Central European nation since its independence in 1993.

The tribute underscored the shared respect of both countries for the sacrifices made by soldiers in the defence of freedom, sovereignty and peace.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi held extensive bilateral talks with Prime Minister Fico, during which India and Slovakia elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership and agreed to expand cooperation across sectors including defence, technology, trade, education and innovation.

The visit has been marked by a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and deepening people-to-people connections between the two countries.
