Srinagar, 4th July: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday directed all departments and security agencies to maintain close coordination for the smooth conduct of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra and urged devotees to undertake the pilgrimage only after obtaining a valid registration permit.

Chairing a high-level review meeting, Sinha assessed the overall management of the annual pilgrimage, including security arrangements, pilgrim movement, traffic management, accommodation, registration and other logistical measures.

The meeting was informed that a large number of pilgrims were reaching Jammu and Kashmir without valid registration, resulting in long waiting periods and inconvenience for devotees holding confirmed permits.

The Lieutenant Governor said the pilgrimage is being conducted in accordance with the ceiling on daily pilgrim movement prescribed under the directions of the Supreme Court. He stressed that adherence to the registration schedule is essential to ensure the safety, security and convenience of all pilgrims.

The administration reiterated that only pilgrims holding valid registration for their designated date would be allowed to proceed to the holy cave shrine. Sinha appealed to devotees who have not yet secured registration to postpone their travel plans for the next few days to avoid inconvenience.

He also called for seamless coordination among the civil administration, police, security forces, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, langar organisations, service providers and non-governmental organisations to ensure the safe and efficient conduct of the pilgrimage.

Sinha directed officials to continuously monitor arrangements on the ground and resolve emerging issues promptly to provide pilgrims with a secure and well-managed pilgrimage experience.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, senior intelligence officials and officers of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.
