Mussoorie, 20th Aug: Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Thursday urged IAS officer trainees of the 2024 batch to uphold integrity, embrace technology and place citizens at the centre of governance, describing civil servants as the vital link in translating the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 into reality.

Addressing the Valedictory Programme of the Phase-II training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, the Vice-President congratulated the officer trainees on completing their training and said the civil services have played a pivotal role in India’s development by connecting policymaking with grassroots implementation.

Calling upon the young officers to ensure that development reaches the last mile, he urged them to adopt “Seva Bhav” and “Kartavya Bodh” as their guiding principles while serving the nation.

Highlighting the importance of teamwork, Radhakrishnan advised the trainees to strive for team excellence rather than individual excellence, encouraging them to build cohesive teams, motivate colleagues and carry forward good administrative practices established by their predecessors.

The Vice-President also welcomed the increasing participation of women in the civil services, noting that around 41 per cent of the 2024 IAS batch comprises women. He described the achievement as a strong reflection of Nari Shakti, where talent and determination continue to overcome traditional barriers.

Emphasising the need for future-ready governance, he urged officers to leverage emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning and Blockchain to enhance transparency, efficiency and citizen service delivery. He stressed that continuous learning and adaptability would be essential qualities for the administrators of tomorrow.

Radhakrishnan underscored that character and integrity remain the foundation of public service, stating that true leadership is defined not by power or position but by the ability to make ethical decisions, especially in difficult circumstances.

Concluding his address, the Vice-President encouraged the officers to dedicate themselves to transforming lives in the remotest parts of the country by ensuring that every grievance is heard and every citizen is empowered.

The programme was attended by Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Gurmit Singh, Uttarakhand Agriculture and Soldier Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi, and LBSNAA Director Dr. B. Rajender, among other dignitaries.
