New Delhi, 21st Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday interacted with the CEOs and founders of 20 leading Indian space startups, urging them to expand the use of space technology beyond the aerospace sector and position India as a global hub for innovation, investment and talent in the space industry.

The interaction, held at Seva Teerth, brought together entrepreneurs working across diverse domains including launch vehicles, satellites, advanced propulsion systems, space intelligence, space debris management, and AI-driven weather and climate solutions.

During the meeting, startup founders highlighted the rapid progress of India’s private space ecosystem and expressed confidence that the government’s decision to open the space sector to private participation had unlocked unprecedented opportunities for innovation and growth. They also noted growing international interest in adopting technologies developed by Indian space companies.

Prime Minister Modi congratulated the entrepreneurs for pioneering new frontiers and said their success had reinforced the government’s vision of opening the space sector to private players. He observed that many countries either lack the resources or the intent to invest significantly in space, presenting India with a unique opportunity to emerge as a global leader.

Emphasising the social impact of space technology, the Prime Minister encouraged startups to develop applications that directly improve people’s lives. He suggested that companies working on space debris management collaborate with environmental organisations, while firms developing space-based agricultural technologies should work closely with agricultural universities and government departments to help farmers make informed decisions and improve productivity.

Highlighting India’s long-term vision, Modi said the country should build an ecosystem where the world naturally looks to India for space technology, innovation and partnerships. He added that India’s expanding space sector has the potential to attract global talent, businesses and investments.

The Prime Minister also called for stronger collaboration between space startups and Atal Tinkering Labs, saying such partnerships would nurture scientific curiosity among school students and inspire the next generation of space innovators.

The interaction was attended by founders and CEOs of leading startups, including Skyroot Aerospace, Agnikul Cosmos, Pixxel, Dhruva Space, GalaxEye, PierSight, Bellatrix Aerospace, Digantara, SatSure, Suhora Technologies, Manastu Space, Astrobase, TakeMe2Space, VyomIC, Cosmoserve Space, OrbitAID Aerospace, SkyServe (Hyspace), Serendipity Space, Vassar Labs, and mistEO.
