Police allege woman plotted killing with lover and associate; body found near Bhavakheda Canal

Lucknow, 19th Sept: A woman allegedly conspired with her lover and his associate to murder her husband following repeated disputes over his contact with his first wife, police said. The victim, identified as Ramkishore Valmiki, was found dead inside a trunk near the Bhavakheda Canal on September 17.
According to police, Valmiki and accused Sufia Bano had been in a relationship for around four years and married about two years ago. Police said tensions developed after Valmiki came to know about Sufia’s alleged relationship with Munna alias Muchhad, 52.
The couple reportedly had frequent disputes over the matter. Police said Valmiki later resumed visiting his first wife, Kavita Devi, and providing her financial support, which allegedly angered Sufia.
On the intervening night of September 14 and 15, Sufia allegedly invited Munna and his associate Iqbal to her house and left the door unlatched. Police said the two entered while Valmiki was asleep and stabbed him.
The accused allegedly attempted to conceal evidence by plastering the floor and hiding the bloodstained broom, the victim’s clothes and the knife allegedly used in the crime. Police said Sufia then called her 16-year-old son, after which Valmiki’s body was allegedly placed inside a wooden box kept under a bed.
The following night, the body was allegedly transported in an e-rickshaw and dumped under a canal bridge.
On September 17, Kavita Devi lodged a complaint at the Mohanlalganj police station, accusing Sufia and others of murdering Valmiki. Police recovered the body the same day and began an investigation.
Investigators subsequently traced the e-rickshaw route and examined footage from around 180 CCTV cameras. Police said the investigation led to the arrest of all the accused.
