Piyush Goyal Leaves for Singapore to Boost Trade Ties

Commerce Minister to attend India-Singapore Ministerial and Business Roundtables, lead 70-member business delegation

New Delhi, 19th Aug: Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has departed for a three-day visit to Singapore from August 19 to 21 to participate in the 4th India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) and the 4th India-Singapore Business Roundtable (ISBR), aimed at further strengthening bilateral economic and commercial ties.

Accompanying the Minister is a 70-member Indian business delegation representing sectors including technology, artificial intelligence, manufacturing, infrastructure, fintech, healthcare, agriculture, logistics and professional services. The delegation will participate in business-to-business (B2B), government-to-business (G2B) and institutional engagements focused on investment, technology collaboration, market access and skill development.

During the visit, Goyal will join Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, S. Jaishankar and Ashwini Vaishnaw at the ministerial roundtable on August 20, where they will engage with Singapore’s leadership under the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework.

The Commerce Minister is also scheduled to call on Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and hold meetings with leading global companies and institutions, including Temasek Holdings, Keppel Infrastructure, IHH Healthcare, Singapore Business Federation and others.

As part of the visit, Goyal will jointly inspect the APEDA–FairPrice initiative at City Square Mall with Singapore’s Minister of State Gan Siow Huang to promote Indian agri-food exports in the Singapore retail market.

The Minister will also address the India-Singapore Business Forum organised by FICCI and deliver the keynote address at the ICAI ASEAN Conference 2026.

According to the government, Singapore remained India’s largest source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in FY 2025-26, contributing USD 19.8 billion, while bilateral trade reached USD 36.1 billion, underscoring the growing economic partnership between the two countries.
