New Delhi, 23rd May: Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, on Saturday distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth under the 19th Rozgar Mela through video conferencing.
Addressing the newly appointed candidates, the Prime Minister said India’s youth are playing a vital role in accelerating the country’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
He said the Rozgar Mela reflects the government’s commitment to empowering “Yuva Shakti” with employment opportunities across sectors including railways, banking, defence, health and education.
Modi congratulated the candidates and their families, describing the appointments as a major milestone in their lives and an important contribution to the nation’s development journey.
The Prime Minister also referred to his recent diplomatic tour covering five countries and said global leaders and corporations had expressed strong interest in India’s young workforce and technological progress.
“The world wants to be a part of India’s development journey,” Modi said while highlighting growing international partnerships in sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, clean energy, advanced manufacturing and maritime infrastructure.
He noted that India’s agreements with countries including the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, UAE and Italy were aimed at generating employment opportunities and global exposure for Indian youth.
Modi cited the ASML-Tata Electronics partnership as an example of India’s rising role in global semiconductor supply chains and said the agreement alone would create thousands of jobs.
The Prime Minister said sectors linked to green hydrogen, sustainable manufacturing, shipbuilding, aviation maintenance and electronics production are rapidly emerging as major employment generators.
He highlighted that India is building a complete semiconductor ecosystem and that ten semiconductor units are expected to establish India’s presence in the global market.
The Prime Minister also spoke about investments worth nearly ₹75,000 crore in shipbuilding, repair and maritime infrastructure, which he said would create fresh opportunities for engineers, technicians and skilled workers.
Highlighting the Production Linked Incentive scheme, Modi said India has emerged as a major electronics manufacturing hub with millions of jobs being created across the value chain.
The Prime Minister further stressed the importance of infrastructure development, saying investments in roads, railways, ports, airports and digital connectivity are opening opportunities even in villages and remote regions.
“Rapid transformation is clearly visible even in rural areas,” he remarked.
Modi also highlighted India’s startup ecosystem, noting that the country now has more than 2.3 lakh recognised startups and has become the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem.
He said youth from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities are increasingly driving innovation and entrepreneurship, with women playing a growing role in the startup sector.
Addressing the new government employees directly, the Prime Minister reminded them that public service is closely connected with the lives of crores of citizens.
He urged them to work with empathy, integrity and commitment while continuously upgrading their skills through platforms such as iGOT Karmayogi.
“Viksit Bharat will be built through the efforts of youth who consider their work a means of serving the nation,” Modi said.
According to the government, around 12 lakh appointment letters have been distributed through Rozgar Melas organised across the country so far.
