New Delhi, 26th May: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday held detailed discussions with senior officials of four major public sector banks regarding a comprehensive overhaul of the Central Board of Secondary Education payment gateway system.
The meeting was attended by officials from State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank and Indian Bank.
The discussions focused on improving the digital payment ecosystem for CBSE post-examination services such as re-evaluation requests, photocopies of answer sheets and other fee-based student services.
During the meeting, Pradhan stressed the need for a robust, reliable and student-friendly payment infrastructure to prevent technical glitches and transaction failures.
The minister directed the banks to work closely with CBSE in establishing stronger payment protocols to ensure timely transactions, quick resolution of payment-related complaints and automatic refunds for failed or excess payments.
According to the ministry, the proposed overhaul will include advanced technical safeguards, real-time monitoring systems and faster grievance redressal mechanisms.
Pradhan urged the banks to accord top priority to the initiative and ensure smooth, secure and efficient digital transactions for students across the country.
The four banks assured full cooperation and committed to implementing enhanced technical upgrades and payment protocols in coordination with CBSE at the earliest.
Earlier on May 24, the Education Minister had also discussed recent payment and technical issues faced by students during CBSE post-result and re-evaluation processes with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Officials said the move is aimed at strengthening the digital infrastructure supporting student services and preventing disruptions during crucial academic processes.
