Dehradun, 13th June: President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday reviewed the passing out parade of the 158th Regular Course and the 141st Technical Graduate Course at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, congratulating the officer cadets on successfully completing one of the country’s most demanding military training programmes.

Addressing the newly commissioned officers, the President said their courage, wisdom and commitment to service would guide them throughout their military careers.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the passing out of nine women cadets from the Academy. Describing the occasion as a watershed moment in the history of the IMA, President Murmu said it represented a milestone not only for India’s armed forces but also for the country’s journey towards women-led development.

She expressed confidence that many more women would join the Academy in the years ahead and contribute to strengthening the nation’s defence capabilities.

The President also congratulated cadets from friendly foreign countries who completed their training at the Academy. She said their presence reflected India’s commitment to friendship, cooperation and peaceful relations with nations around the world.

According to the President, the bonds of trust, understanding and professionalism developed during training at IMA play a vital role in enhancing defence cooperation among countries.

Reminding the officer cadets of their responsibilities, President Murmu said they are the protectors of India’s sovereignty, unity and integrity and carry the trust of more than 140 crore citizens.

She urged the young officers to uphold service as their highest duty and remain committed to the core values of the armed forces.

Highlighting the evolving nature of global security challenges, the President said the Indian Army must remain adaptive and future-ready in an era marked by rapid technological advancements and complex geopolitical developments.

She encouraged the officers to be lifelong learners, courageous decision-makers and ethical leaders capable of meeting future challenges.

President Murmu also emphasized the importance of leadership and soldier welfare, stating that Army officers must lead from the front, inspire confidence and foster teamwork among their troops.

She said officers are expected to balance operational effectiveness with the well-being of their soldiers, thereby strengthening trust and enhancing the combat capability of the units they command.

The President concluded by urging the newly commissioned officers to uphold the finest traditions of the Indian Armed Forces and serve the nation with dedication, integrity and honour.
