Tulsi Gabbard on COVID Origins : Dr. Anthony Fauci Involvement ?

Declassifications detail Wuhan lab research funding and alleged manipulation of intelligence analysis.

Role of Dr. Anthony Fauci

On Tuesday, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) released a trove of previously classified documents and communications that re-ignited controversy surrounding the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic. The documents, publicly shared by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, offer an inside look at the U.S. Intelligence community’s analysis of the pandemic, with particular focus on the role of Dr. Anthony Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Leaked correspondences allegedly show Fauci provided millions of U.S. Taxpayer dollars for research on bat coronaviruses at China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), and that these activities influenced subsequent intelligence evaluations and even testimony to Congress. Whistleblower testimony in the declassified materials suggests that analysts who explored the lab-leak hypothesis may have faced retribution, raising alarms about efforts to suppress alternative origins narratives. “The American public deserves full transparency into what happened during our nation’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Gabbard said in a statement that accompanied the release. “I am committed to ensuring the truth is brought to light, particularly when that truth may expose potential misconduct or intentional manipulation of sensitive information.”

The ODNI documents state that millions were funneled through grant programs overseen by Fauci and administered to the WIV for research into novel coronaviruses.

ODNI release claims

This research has been characterized as gain-of-function work by critics and some former intelligence analysts, a type of research that modifies pathogens to study characteristics like contagiousness or pathogenicity – something they contend could pose risks if mishandled in a laboratory setting. The documents also detail alleged efforts to steer intelligence findings in favor of natural zoonotic origins while dismissing or downplaying evidence suggesting a lab leak. The ODNI release claims that specific scientific perspectives and experts, often aligned with Fauci’s favored research and viewpoints, were privileged in shaping initial and subsequent intelligence assessments.

This is described as a cyclical process where intelligence conclusions were informed by a select group of scientists and analysts, and those conclusions were then subsequently used by those same scientists as a basis for their public pronouncements or further recommendations. This approach, according to ODNI officials, may have served to create the appearance of scientific consensus where it didn’t truly exist, at least not unanimously among relevant experts. The narrative then allegedly reinforced itself.

Furthermore, internal communications released Tuesday purportedly call into question testimony provided by Fauci in sworn congressional hearings in which he denied possessing knowledge of discussions within the intelligence community concerning potential COVID-19 lab-leak research and its implications.

The ODNI claims the newly available evidence directly contradicts these statements, indicating interactions did occur between Fauci and intelligence personnel that should have been reported or disclosed in his testimony. These contradictions are expected to add significant fuel to ongoing investigations and legal inquiries into Fauci’s conduct during the pandemic. In addition to alleged manipulation and misleading testimony, the release details testimony from multiple intelligence community whistleblowers. These individuals reportedly described a climate within certain parts of the intelligence agencies that discouraged open discussion of the lab-leak theory.

Whistleblowers reports

They claim that analysts who advocated for further investigation into this possibility faced career risks, ostracism, and at least one instance of a contractor being fired shortly after providing information to the ODNI.

Other whistleblowers reported being warned that their career advancement prospects could be adversely affected by their position on the origins debate. This alleged retaliation against analysts has raised concerns about the integrity of scientific and intelligence-based decision-making during a critical public health crisis. The ODNI stated in its release that the whistleblower complaints have been forwarded to the Intelligence Community Inspector General for review and appropriate action.

The declassification process was initiated as a directive from President Donald Trump in 2018, intended to enhance public transparency concerning U.S. Government information. Director Gabbard’s decision to release this particular set of documents, after what ODNI described as a thorough declassification review spanning approximately one year, highlights the continuing sensitive and contentious nature of the COVID-19 origins question
