New Delhi, 4th June: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat and Daman on June 5, where he will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth more than ₹22,600 crore spanning infrastructure, healthcare, transportation, aviation and maritime sectors.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Modi will begin his visit in Surat, where he will review ongoing industrial operations and infrastructure projects at Hazira before participating in a public programme.
In Surat, the Prime Minister will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around ₹18,800 crore across the road, power and industrial sectors.
Among the key projects, Modi will dedicate Packages VI and VII of the eight-lane access-controlled Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway to the nation, aimed at enhancing connectivity, logistics efficiency and economic integration between Gujarat and Maharashtra.
He will also lay the foundation stone for the four-laning of critical stretches of NH-56, a project expected to improve connectivity across tribal regions and provide better access to the Statue of Unity.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate a 200-bed Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital in Surat, equipped with modern healthcare facilities, emergency services and trauma care.
Several power and industrial infrastructure projects will also be launched, including transmission network expansion works, power distribution upgrades in Valsad, effluent treatment infrastructure at Dahej Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPIR) and Sarigam GIDC, along with utility infrastructure at the Jambusar Bulk Drug Park.
Later in the evening, Modi will travel to Daman, where he will inaugurate the new terminal building of NAMO Airport and dedicate NAMO Hospital to the nation.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth around ₹2,970 crore in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
Projects being inaugurated and dedicated in Daman are valued at around ₹1,340 crore, while foundation stones will be laid for projects worth approximately ₹1,630 crore.
Major upcoming projects include the Iconic Bridge, Daman Convention Centre and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus, which are expected to boost tourism, investment and employment opportunities in the region.
The new terminal building at NAMO Airport is expected to significantly strengthen regional air connectivity and support economic growth, while NAMO Hospital has been designed to cater to nearly 1,500 outpatients daily.
During the programme, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of four key projects worth around ₹885 crore for the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.
These projects include the development of modern port facilities and multipurpose jetties on Kalpeni and Kadmat islands. The infrastructure will enable year-round berthing of large passenger and cruise vessels, improve cargo handling, strengthen fisheries-related facilities and enhance maritime connectivity.
Officials said the projects are expected to promote tourism, support local livelihoods and contribute to the socio-economic development of the island territory.
Prime Minister Modi will address public gatherings in both Surat and Daman during the visit.
