New Delhi ,12th August:The 2026-27 Union Budget places infrastructure at the core of India’s economic growth strategy, with a record ₹12.2 lakh crore public capital outlay. Major allocations target railway modernization, including seven new high-speed rail corridors (Mumbai–Pune, Pune–Hyderabad, Hyderabad–Bengaluru, Hyderabad–Chennai, Chennai–Bengaluru, Delhi–Varanasi, Varanasi–Siliguri), and development of 20 national waterways. These steps are expected to improve logistics, boost connectivity for small cities, and create employment opportunities. A new dedicated freight corridor and skill centers for inland water transport have also been announced, aiming to make Indian logistics more efficient and environmentally friendly.
