C. P. Radhakrishnan Warns MPs Against Undignified Remarks
Rajya Sabha Chairman urges members to respect colleagues’ sentiments, cultural traditions and regional identities

New Delhi, 12th Aug: Vice-President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan on Wednesday cautioned members against making discourteous and undignified comments while interrupting the speeches of fellow members.
Radhakrishnan said certain instances of such remarks had come to his notice and advised members to exercise restraint during parliamentary proceedings.
He urged MPs to be careful not to hurt the sentiments and feelings of their fellow members.
Highlighting India’s diverse cultural landscape, the Rajya Sabha Chairman said the country’s culture is unique and inclusive of diverse regional cultures. He stressed that there should be no disrespect towards the cultural traditions and regional identities of colleagues.
The observation came as Radhakrishnan emphasised the importance of maintaining dignity, decorum and mutual respect during proceedings of the Upper House.
