New Delhi 12th August :The Indian government has approved a field trial for one billion polymer ₹10 and ₹20 banknotes, following an RBI proposal. The Reserve Bank has begun the procurement process, but there is no confirmed launch date as it’s still in early phases.
Polymer notes are expected to offer greater durability and enhanced security compared to traditional paper notes. After successful field trials, regular issuance will be considered.
