Narendra Bhooshan Takes Charge at MoEFCC

1992-batch IAS officer brings over three decades of experience in environment, infrastructure, energy and public administration

New Delhi, 1st Oct: Narendra Bhooshan, a 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has assumed charge as Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India.

Bhooshan joins the ministry after serving as Secretary, Department of Land Resources under the Ministry of Rural Development. He brings more than three decades of administrative experience across the Central and State Governments, with exposure to energy, infrastructure, industry, agriculture, urban development, finance and land-resource management.

Extensive administrative experience
During his tenure in the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Bhooshan held several senior positions, including Additional Chief Secretary for Energy and Additional Energy Source and Technical Education. He also served as Principal Secretary in the Public Works Department, Infrastructure and Industries Development, Information Technology and Electronics, Science and Technology, and Panchayati Raj departments.

He has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Noida Authority and held several other important assignments. His field experience includes postings as District Magistrate of Mathura, Firozabad and Udham Singh Nagar.

At the Centre, Bhooshan has served as Deputy Director General at the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Mission Director for National Food Security Management and Joint Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation.

He also served as Officer on Special Duty at the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Academic and professional background
Bhooshan holds a graduate degree in Electronics and a Master’s degree in International Development Policy from Duke University, USA.

His professional training includes programmes covering public finance, infrastructure and climate-change preparedness.
