New Delhi, 11th June: A 35-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband at their residence in northeast Delhi’s Seelampur area on Thursday, police said.
The incident came to light during the early hours of the day when police received information that a man had allegedly assaulted his wife at their home in the Gautampuri locality and fled the scene.
A police team immediately rushed to the residence and found the woman lying in an injured condition. She was shifted to Jag Pravesh Chandra (JPC) Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
According to police, preliminary investigation suggests that the woman’s husband was involved in the crime and escaped after the assault.
“Teams have been formed to trace and apprehend the accused. Efforts are underway to locate him at the earliest,” a senior police officer said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death and gather forensic evidence related to the case.
Police have registered a murder case at Seelampur police station and initiated a detailed investigation into the circumstances leading to the woman’s death.
Investigators are also questioning family members and neighbours while examining possible motives behind the crime.
