New Delhi, 27th Sept: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold the first meeting of its newly appointed state in-charges and co-in-charges at the party’s national headquarters in New Delhi on September 29.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin will chair the meeting, which will bring together the newly appointed in-charges and co-in-charges for all 28 states and eight Union Territories.
According to party sources, the meeting is expected to discuss strengthening and expanding the organisation, preparations for upcoming Assembly elections and coordination between the central and state units.
The functioning and performance of BJP governments in states ruled by the party are also expected to come up for discussion. The newly appointed office-bearers are likely to receive guidance from the central leadership on organisational priorities, election-related preparations and upcoming programmes.
The meeting assumes significance as the first joint interaction of the newly appointed functionaries following the organisational reshuffle announced by the BJP on September 23.
Among the appointments, BJP national general secretary Smriti Irani was given charge of Haryana and Chhattisgarh, while party vice-president Ram Madhav was assigned Tamil Nadu.
Senior leader Vinay Sahasrabuddhe was appointed Delhi in-charge, while Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Darshana Jardosh were named co-in-charges for the national capital.
The party also appointed senior leader Anil Baluni as coordinator of its communication department, which oversees the national media and social media units. Ashish Usha Agrawal, who was earlier made co-convener of the national media department, was appointed its convener.
The September 29 meeting is expected to provide the newly appointed office-bearers an opportunity to present their priorities for their respective states and Union Territories and discuss organisational coordination with the central leadership.
