UNITED NATIONS – Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday flashed photos of Minab school attack victims during his address at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, prompted the US envoy to walk out.
Pezeshkian stated that the US and Israel attacked Iran and the Islamic Republic defended itself.
“We have only defended ourselves. We are not terrorists,” he said.
He delivered a powerful rebuttal to US President Donald Trump, who described Iranian leaders as “terrorists” in his UNGA address.
Pezeshkian stated that the United States and Israel attacked Iran and the Islamic Republic defended itself.
“Our innocent people have been the targets of cowardly attacks and aggressions imposed upon our country. And we defend ourselves with utmost strength. America and Israel attacked us,” he added.
He asserted that Iran has in truth been a victim of terrorism, Pezeshkian said that the US and Israel assassinated its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei without any legal reason and bombed a school, killing innocent children.
“Yesterday, the United States President described us as terrorists. We have been victims of terrorism. I come from an Iran in which our esteemed Supreme Leader was assassinated without any legal framework or reason. I come from Iran where in truth, they bombed a school. These children perished under bombs, with weapons used by the United States and Israel. They were innocent, they had committed no crimes,” Pezeshkian said in his speech.
He pulled out pictures of Minab victims in coffins, and the US envoy present at the venue walked out.
