New Delhi, 23rd Sept: All Public Sector Banks (PSBs) and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) will function normally on Sunday, September 27, 2026, to ensure continued access to essential banking services amid a proposed three-day nationwide bank strike.
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has called for a strike from September 28 to 30, which follows the weekend holidays on September 26 and 27.
To prevent disruption to customers over the extended period, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the opening of all bank branches, offices, ATM-linked branches and Currency Chests on September 27.
The government said the measure has been taken to ensure that customers’ genuine banking requirements are not affected because of the consecutive holidays and proposed strike.
The government and bank managements have also appealed to the unions to defer the proposed strike and said measures are being taken to ensure that essential banking services continue without interruption.
