Greater Noida, 27th Sept: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s expanding global trade and investment opportunities, saying Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) will provide the state’s entrepreneurs greater access to international markets.
Addressing the UP International Trade Show in Greater Noida, Goyal said expanding exports, investments and global market access would support Uttar Pradesh’s ambition of becoming a $1 trillion economy.
The Minister said Uttar Pradesh has emerged as an investment destination, supported by industrial policies and schemes, with major corporations and global investors entering sectors across the state and creating employment opportunities.
Global market access through FTAs
Goyal said international trade events such as the UP International Trade Show provide businesses with direct opportunities to connect with global markets. He highlighted the participation of six partner countries, hundreds of delegates and exhibitors, along with buyer-seller meetings.
He said Uttar Pradesh’s diverse products, cuisines and services have the potential to gain greater international visibility as global market access expands.
Focus on technology and infrastructure
The Minister highlighted the development of expressways, modern airports and industrial parks in the state. He also pointed to Uttar Pradesh’s growing presence in defence, semiconductors, electronics and other high-technology sectors.
Goyal cited the expansion of a large robotics manufacturing facility in Greater Noida as an example of the state’s evolving industrial and technological landscape.
He said the next phase of Uttar Pradesh’s development would involve expanding exports, attracting international investments, strengthening tourism and building global recognition for brands originating from the state.
Export target of ₹5 lakh crore by 2030
According to the Minister, Uttar Pradesh currently records annual exports of around ₹2 lakh crore and has set a target of increasing this figure to ₹5 lakh crore by 2030.
He said greater access to international markets through FTAs, rising investments, tourism and stronger global recognition of Uttar Pradesh’s products and brands could create new opportunities for entrepreneurs.
Goyal also stressed coordination between the Central and state governments and participation from citizens, youth and stakeholders in the trade and industrial sectors to support the state’s economic and export growth.
