New Delhi/Shimla, 10th Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the Chamba bus accident in Himachal Pradesh, which claimed at least seven lives and left 11 others injured.
In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
“The loss of lives due to a mishap in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, is deeply saddening. My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. May those injured recover at the earliest,” the Prime Minister said.
The accident occurred on the Bairagarh–Tissa road in Chamba district when a private bus reportedly overturned and plunged onto a lower road during its journey. Rescue teams rushed to the spot, evacuated the injured and shifted them to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Officials said the injured are receiving medical care, while the state administration is monitoring the situation. The tragedy has once again highlighted concerns over road safety in the hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh.
