New Delhi, 23rd Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended warm greetings to citizens on the occasion of Ayurveda Day, describing Ayurveda as more than a system of treatment and highlighting its role in promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
The Prime Minister underlined the timeless wisdom of traditional medicine and called upon people to strengthen their resolve to embrace and preserve India’s rich Ayurvedic heritage.
Sharing a Sanskrit Subhashitam on the occasion, Modi highlighted Ayurveda’s holistic approach to understanding health, lifestyle and longevity.
The Prime Minister posted on X: “आयुर्वेद दिवस की सभी देशवासियों को हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं! आयुर्वेद केवल उपचार की पद्धति नहीं, बल्कि स्वस्थ और संतुलित जीवनशैली का एक सशक्त माध्यम है। आइए, अपनी इस समृद्ध विरासत को अपनाने का संकल्प और मजबूत करें।”
He also shared the Sanskrit verse: “हिताहितं सुखं दुःखमायुस्तस्य हिताहितम्।
मानं च तच्च यत्रोक्तमायुर्वेदः स उच्यते।।”
The accompanying explanation stated that Ayurveda is the science that describes beneficial and harmful lifestyles, the factors associated with happiness and unhappiness, healthy and diseased living, and what should be adopted or avoided for a long and healthy life. It also deals with the nature and measure of lifespan.
