New Delhi, 28th Sept: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal will visit the United States from September 29 to October 5, 2026, to participate in the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and hold a series of engagements with US industry leaders, investors and the startup community.
Goyal will attend the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting on September 30 and October 1 at the invitation of the US Trade Representative (USTR).
The meeting will bring together Trade Ministers from G20 member countries. India is expected to engage with G20 partners on strengthening a rules-based, open, inclusive, transparent, equitable and non-discriminatory multilateral trading system, with the World Trade Organization (WTO) at its core.
India will also emphasise the need to preserve adequate policy space for developing countries.
Bilateral Trade Talks With US
On the sidelines of the G20 meeting, Goyal will hold bilateral discussions with his counterparts, focusing on expanding opportunities for farmers, fishermen, women entrepreneurs, startups, MSMEs and other enterprises.
He will also meet his US counterpart as part of ongoing efforts to advance a balanced and mutually beneficial India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) and work towards finalising an interim deal in line with the Joint Statement of February 7, 2026.
Engagement With American Industry
During his visit to Milwaukee and Chicago, Goyal will meet chief executives of leading American companies from sectors including manufacturing, consumer goods, agribusiness, retail and technology.
He will also participate in roundtable discussions with businesses, startups and innovative companies.
The Commerce Minister will highlight the opportunities India offers as a manufacturing and investment destination and invite American companies to deepen partnerships with Indian enterprises.
Goyal to Pay Tributes to Gandhi and Vivekananda
In Chicago, Goyal will pay floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on Gandhi Jayanti and Swami Vivekananda.
He will also interact with professional associations representing the Indian community in the United States.
The visit is expected to further strengthen India-US trade and investment ties and deepen India’s engagement with its G20 partners.
